Confession
I first saw Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet the summer before I turned thirteen, right when I first read the play. And I watched it at least once a day for over a year. From then on, I typically watch it once a year or so and it remains my favourite movie of all time. (And please, please, don't talk to me about any other version, because they simply don't exist to me, kinda like how the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice is the only one.)
And here is my confession: every single time I watch the film..the greatest, most tragic love story ever, that *everyone* knows...I spend the whole movie hoping that maybe, just maybe, Juliet will wake up in time and then neither of them will die, and they'll run away and live happily ever after and have really pretty babies (that would probably look like Jodelle Ferland as Adrienne has pointed out).
Every. Single. Time. And I am always heart broken when that doesn't happen.
All I want in this world is for those two crazy kids to work it out.
