I Can Haz Cover Art and/or Book Announcement?
I've been sitting on this for a couple of months and now I get to say something. Yay!
I've put off assigning an editor to my novel Hunter for awhile (meaning, uh...a few years--original release date was Feb 2009) because a) I tend to put my stuff off in favour of others' work (I don't like to abuse my position), and b) I knew I wanted to expand it a bit and do some rewriting. I also knew that we were planning to take the covers in a new direction and redo the cover for Bloodlines at the same time. I had asked if I could go through the book then, before we re-release with a new cover, and clean it up, which I was allowed to.
Well, chickadees, I kept putting that off 'cause I cringe at anything I wrote more than a year ago. And I'm sure next year I'll cringe at anything I wrote this year, BUT, anyways...I finally asked if I could perhaps expand Bloodlines a bit. It was contracted as a standalone and I didn't know if it would be successful enough to be a series. A couple of years ago, when I submitted the sequel, three more books were contracted in the series at the same time. So, knowing I can go to town with the multi-book arc as I always wanted to, I jumped at the chance to do some revising before we re-release.
This means that towards the end of this year or early 2011, there'll be a brand spanking new edition of Bloodlines, shortly followed by the release of Hunter.
Want to see cover art drafts? Yes, of course you do.

Isn't she pretty? There's our girl Zara all ready to kick some ass.
Hunter's cover is in progress and I'll post it once it's a) mostly done, and b) approved by the art boss lady.
So this means on top of 1) finishing off the third part of my serial Children of the Apocalypse, 2) finishing Wounded (sequel to YA paranormal uncontracted book), 3) fleshing out the direction of the untitled sequel to Soulless, 4) finally finishing the first draft of Psalms after having four false starts (that took 30K words each)...I have two books to rewrite.
I'm so glad I don't have a social life. ;-)

Hahaha, yeah, sent it to the boss man and he was like, "I can't believe that's not a real person. She's hot."
Thanks!
#5 She is hot, but....
Just cause I have it as my desktop background doesn't mean I like it.
#6 Uh huh, duly noted, boss.

#7 Skyla Dawn added to Storycasting's authors
There's an undergound hobby out there called 'fantasy casting', and we're the best website for doing it. If you're in that 25% of fiction readers who 'cast' your favorite fiction, some to Storycasting and cast the 'movie in your mind' for Skyla's "Bloodlines". Will there be a movie? Maybe. But if you already have ideas about who should play what, come and have your say and then go bug a favorite producer/director. :-)
