Series FAQs

When's the next book out?
I'm trying to keep the series overview updated with projected release dates.

Why did you come out with a paranormal book called Bloodlines around the same time as a big popular one did?
The book was written and titled in 2005, contracted in 2006, originally released in 2008. When we did the re-release, I wasn't about to change the title readers already knew. It's unfortunate but there are lots of books called Bloodlines out there anyway.

What is Thrall and how can I read it?
It's the Nate-narrated short story, and it can be found in the paperback version of Bloodlines along with the ebooks sold through Mundania exclusively.

Exclusive ebooks? That's not fair.
Initially it was going to be strictly for people who bought print or e through Mundania, but logistically it was too difficult, so we stuck it in the paperback and then only included it in the Bloodlines ebook at Mundania.

Understand that I sincerely appreciate everyone who bought a copy of Bloodlines regardless where it was purchased from, but it's common for us small press author types to encourage sales through the publisher website, as we all make more money (lots more) by cutting out the middle man. Each published novel in the series will contain a bonus short story.

So what did I miss in Thrall?
Thrall covers a period of time towards the end of Bloodlines, from Nate's point of view. You don't need to read it to continue following the series, however it does give some major hints about some things that will happen in the fourth book.

How about Malice?
Same deal--you don't have to read Malice to make sense of future books, but it drops some pretty big bombshells and connects Hunter with the overall series arc. And for anyone who thinks Zara seems a little out of character at times in Hunter, Malice should clear that up for you.

What's A Vampire Walked Into a Bar?
It's a short story set in the verse that takes place a few years earlier. Eventually it'll be available, either for a 99c download or as a freebie.

I didn't think Whiskey Sour from Bad-Ass Faeries 2 had anything to do with Bloodlines?
I always saw them as taking place in the same 'verse. Toby from Whiskey Sour "appears" in Bloodlines in that Zara talks to him on the phone. I decided to bring him and Juliette into Amends at some point because I've always wanted to see a Zara v. Juliette smackdown. Toby will likely bring the popcorn.

Why did you totally rewrite Bloodlines and re-publish it?
I've done a couple of interviews with some fab people and you can check out my thoughts on it specifically with J.A. Saare. Also have a gander at my chat with book blogger My World...in words and pages. Melissa's interview was conducted after she'd finished the book, so some of your questions may be answered there. There's also an interview with Bells at Hanging with Bells where I talk about Zara, the series, and Nate. The interviews are generally spoiler free--I spoil a few things but not major plot points.

When will we see ___ character again?
Check the character page. Note: this is not complete. If I felt it would spoil a major plot point, I haven't mentioned what else the character would be in.

Are you available for an interview?
Absolutely. Email me at skyla[at]skyladawncameron[dot]com. Please allow a few days for a response as I receive a lot of email, but I promise I'll get back to you as soon as possible as I love interviews.

I loved the book! What can I do to show my support?
Reviews are lovely. They encourage other people to purchase. Word of mouth is also good, as it gets people to visit the sites to purchase in the first place.

Hunter sounds all well and good but I want more Zara.
Don't we all! (Especially Zara.) I thought of that, which is why I hope you'll join me for an upcoming Zara-narrated free online serial. And Zara *is* in Hunter--she has a fairly prominent role (she wouldn't have it any other way).

Uh, you know she's not real, right?
Hush or she might cut you.

I have some questions about rights usage and stuff for the serial Amends.
See if I answer them here: http://skyladawncameron.com/dob/amendsfaq I answer a bunch of Amends related stuff there.

I have a question not listed here.
Feel free to leave a comment below or drop me an email. Thanks!
