So I Have a Book Out in a Few Days...
That sound you hear is me flailing around like a moron.
Lineage will be out on Tuesday, February 21. I am going to be at various places around the web for the next couple of days.
On Monday, I'll be at LASR with an interview and at Books Make Me Happy for Words & Music Monday.
On Tuesday, I'll be at Speculative Friction for an interview conducted by Frances Pauli, and I'll also have a brief post at the Mundania blog where we'll be giving away something from my backlist.
On Wednesday, I'll be at Sarah-Jane Lehoux's blog talking about creating believable strong female characters.
At some point next week, Melissa will have a Lineage review up and a guest post from me when I come up with something and write it. *cough*
I had a handful of others who generously offered me a guest spot and I'll see what I can get done today, but the clusterfuck of pain and suffering just threw me. I'm so behind. I don't expect sympathy--just understand I'm really freakin' exhausted.
And for those who missed it, there's an interview with me up at Troll in the Corner.
Now. I'm off to panic some more.

#1 Skyla, you are not falling.
Skyla, you are not falling. The floor is there, so don't panic. You're not going to hit it hard.
I say don't panic. I know it sounds strange to say, and no I've not been there where you are. But you wrote it, and like it. I say screw the rest who don't. I know. I know. They are the ones that pay your bills with the sales, but you can't write something that isn't there for you just to please others, and when you please them there are others who will bitch too. So, I think you are doing wonderfully!
I'm planning on posting the review on Tuesday to celebrate. :) And no rush. When ever you write up a post, I'll take it. :) If it helps, you could go do the dishes again. lol.
Congrats early on your release! :) Oh, I want to buy a signed copy of Lineage from you. Can I do that?
#2 I can really stop flailing
I can really stop flailing right now--no one reads on release day, so it'll be awhile before I hear if everyone hates it. It's not that I don't know people will dislike things--I do and that's fine. I just...don't really want to know about it LOL. You know I really love the book. And I love Peri even though I don't like her. But likability is so important to everyone, apparently, and it just drives me batty when I get, "I don't like the heroine so I don't like the book" when IMO it's a BETTER book. Bah.
I can totes send you a signed copy of L, though I also picked up stamps for sending out some bookplates, so I can mail you one like I sent for Bloodlines, if you like. I have a hell of a time w/ mail getting lost so I don't do them often, but once I find the bookplates, I can get that sent this week.

#3 Oh, I get annoyed with the "I
Oh, I get annoyed with the "I don't like this person or that person, so hate the book" stuff. Do the readers not realize there are characters they are not *suppose* to like. That is part of the writing style and story. But I understand that some can be difficult to read, and not every book or character is for them. But that isn't what makes the book "bad" or what ever they want to call it.
We seem to get into these kinds of chats. lol.
And send my a bookplate then. :) I'll add attach it in the book. :) Thank you!
