How to Accept Critiques (And Not Be a Douchebag)

A couple of years ago, I joined my first writing group. It was fairly small, the attendees mostly beginners, which was perfect for me since I only had a Creative Writing degree and a couple of college lit mag publications under my belt and was very much a n00b.

That group taught me not only how to give constructive critiques of others’ work, but how to accept them. That lesson, however, came from an unexpected source.Read more

Everyone's A Critic

Writer's groups are evil.

Pretty much anything writers do is evil. Sometimes it's awesome evil, like the seminar I just attended in California this weekend – James Scott Bell's Novel and Screenplay Intensive.
